We raised the profile of side hustles and female entrepreneurs in Boston
On Wednesday, June 25 Boston's young female entrepreneurs demonstrated the art of the "side hustle," passion projects pursued alongside a full time job, in an event that highlighted the importance of these projects as a testing ground of ideas and experiential learning opportunities outside one's 9-5. Presented by Young Women in Digital (YWD), a group of more than 300 Boston-area young professionals in the digital marketing world, "What's Your Side Hustle" was a sold-out event gathering female entrepreneurs for a night of advice from expert panelists, business pitches from peers getting their hustle on, and community building.
Women in the Boston area dreaming of pursuing a creative consulting business, a freelance venture, or a passion project were invited to apply for the "Side Hustle Scholarship" and four finalists were selected to pitch their side hustle to a panel of creative, entrepreneurial women including Siobhan Dullea, Chief Client Strategist at Communispace; Lauren Joseph, Program Manager at The Grommet; Jackie Schon, Creative Director and Co-Founder of The Paint Bar; and Elyssa Hill, UX/UI Designer at WeSpire.
